Bernardo Ferrão (1945–2004) was a distinguished Portuguese architect and academic, born in Porto on June 19, 1945. A graduate of the Porto School of Fine Arts (ESBAP), where he later taught, Ferrão played a key role in architectural education, continuing as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP). Deeply engaged in the study and practice of architecture and urbanism, he authored and co-authored several significant works, including Project and Urban Transformation in Porto during the age of the Almadas (1758–1813) and a monograph on Fernando Távora. His architectural portfolio spans a wide range of single-family homes, housing complexes, and public projects across Portugal, marked by a thoughtful integration of history, context, and contemporary design.
