Pedro Ramalho is a distinguished Portuguese architect known for his deep commitment to modernist principles and thoughtful integration of architecture with the landscape. Born in Caminha in 1937, he graduated from the Porto School of Fine Arts in 1968 and went on to teach at both the ESBAP and later the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto. His work spans a wide range of public and residential projects, including the Pasteleira housing blocks in Porto, the SAAL project in Antas, and the Sete Bicas cooperative housing in Matosinhos. Ramalho is also known for civic landmarks such as the Matosinhos swimming pools and the refurbishment of the Rivoli Theatre in Porto. With a career that blends practice, teaching, and cultural contribution, including the donation of his archive to Casa da Arquitectura, Pedro Ramalho stands as a key figure in shaping modern architecture in Portugal.
